There is one month of summer left before recruitment starts, one month and five days that is. Not that I'm counting down or anything. Personally, I've enjoyed this summer far more than the last two. Don't get me wrong: living in a dirty frat house and putting up with boys breaking tables and windows and throwing flour everywhere is not fun. One day I can tell my children, when they complain to me about their first dingy apartments or their less than stellar dorm rooms, that they should be so lucky because at least they don't have to live in a situation like I'm living now. Anyway, the other aspects of my life are going very well. INTERNSHIP AT CHIP AND PEPPER: My internship, while tedious and not really exciting, has been a great experience in that I get to see how a pr director and a pr assistant do amazing publicity for a denim label. I've learned from them and I can take what they do and apply it to other jobs I hold now and will hold in the future. My daily tasks include: copying and assembling press kits, updating the press wall, handing returns from editors at fashion/women's magazines, and handling certain pulls from magazines. (Most recently I pulled about 10 pairs of distressed jeans that I thought would work well for a photo shoot a magazine is featuring on the television show "so you want to be a rockstar") From my internship, I have determined that I really do have a strong desire to become a publicist and not just for fashion. While working in the fashion or entertainment industry would be a stellar first choice, working in the pr department of an art gallery, museum, or something on those lines would also be fun. Also, it could be cool to do pr for a politician. You know, actually USE my major. maybe. SUMMER SCHOOL: I'm taking a second session class so I just had my first day of class last week. I'm taking Politics and Film in the People's Republic of China. Long title. So far the films we are going to watch seem pretty interesting. The best part of this class is that there is only one assignment: an 8-12 page paper. Hopefully this means easy A. WEST WING: My roommate Lizzy and I, being the cool people we are, have been doing an ongoing West Wing marathon. We just finished the "last good season" (season 4), that is the last season that the genius himself Aaron Sorkin directs. We're pretty obsessed. I've actually chosen to watch several episodes of the West Wing instead of going out to the 9-0. (read: The 9-0 is a sleazy bar the greek population at USC is obsessed with, especially on Tuesday night) PARTYING: After a bad incident at Rachel's going away party. (read: drinking a bottle of malibu is a horrible idea), I've calmed it down a bit. This coming week I will be taking it up a notch with the many fourth of july festivities and Christine's birthday party. I have learned from my mistakes. However, note that learning from my mistakes means that I discovered it is important to break the diet and eat a lot of carbohydrates before drinking excessively. (Basically I've been eating tacos and breadsticks all day so that I can drink more at Max's 3rd of july celebration. mom would be proud) GOLDFISH: my favorite night of drinking this summer has to be Lizzy's first 9-0 experience. Merrianne, Lizzy, and I decided it would be a fabulous idea to take shots of ketel one and then drink amf's at the hole. We then traveled back to our lovely residence at the frat house and proceeded to throw goldfish crackers at merrianne. (Note: this event probably is onlyl funny to the three of us) The next morning ms. merrianne text messages me saying that when she woke up that morning, she still had goldfish in her shirt. SHOPPING: As you all know I love to shop, since I do not get paid at the good ol' C&P I have not shopping. I am sad. I went to Saks yesterday (why do I tease myself) and found a beautiful Cynthia Rowley handbag on sale. (read: didn't know saks had sales, but cool) I have now decided it is time to get a job. JOB HUNT: On Friday, while I sat around watching Friends and reading my favorite new website (perezhilton.com), I realized that my life is boring. I only intern twice a week. I spent a good two hours looking for jobs online (2-4pm) At 4pm, I received an email back from La vie l'orange, an upscale mani/pedi salon in Beverly Hills that needs an operations assistant (receptionist/a little bit of marketing) and got myself (because the manager and Chip and Pepper Foster are "good old friends" ) an interview for next Thursday. It pays $12/hour. Hopefully I'll be able to buy my purse soon. (and not be bored anymore) MOVIES: Because of lizzy's netflix account and a surplus of fun films coming out this summer, I have seen a good amount of movies. In the theaters I have seen v for vendetta, she's the man, superman returns, the break up, over the hedge, cars, devil wears prada, and i think i'm forgetting some. Devil Wears Prada was amazing. I actually think it was better than the book. However, the best parts of the movie were when Andy was working in the Runway office and not when she was dealing with problems in her personal life. I think this goes against the message of the film. (friends and family are more important than career) The movie also left out a few useless plot lines and minimized the roles of smaller side characters. Basically go see it. The movies I've seen because of Lizzy's netflix are too numerous for me to remember them all. Two of my favorites have been Gattaca and The Italian Job. BEACH: I have made it my goal to get a tan this summer so Lizzy and I have been making several trips to the beach. I am currently darker than I've probably ever been before (still not tan). Give it a few more weeks. DATING: haha. yea right. PROGRAM BOARD: I really don't have much to talk about here yet except I've been working on securing advertising in different publications and working at orientations. More to come later. And I think that's it. I'll update in a few weeks. |

Living in a sorority house has been an interesting experience thus far. There have been ups and downs. Right now, I can't really get away from the negative side of it. The cattyness, the backstabbing....good times. On the brighter side, being in my sorority has given me priceless moments and great friends. People like Kristin and Ivy are irreplaceable and I would have never met them and gotten so close to them if it wasnt for sorority life. But there are some girls.....thank god for spring break soon. And thank god I'm a junior. :) |

Fall Semester 2005 was my worst semester to date at USC, and basically in life. I never really recovered from the summer of working way too much, from the stress, lack of sleep, and lack of voice that recruitment gave me, and shaky start in all of my classes. But at the same time, I celebrated being single and had a lot of fun. I've decided that making out with x many boys in a semester isn't fun though. It's just another part of my bad semester. Because I got mono and got extremely sick, and missed out on a lot. I spent a lot of days in bed. I missed an invite. I didn't talk, eat, or drink for about a week. I couldn't. I couldn't swallow without being in pain. I was still having a rough time getting over my douchebag of an ex-boyfriend. or at least the fact that I was so hurt. Talk about not being able to adjust. It's the beginning of Spring Semester 2006. I've made my bed everyday for the last two weeks. I've become somewhat organized. I'm still scared of getting hurt by the opposite sex, but it's getting better. I think.. It changes everyday. WSA is going well. My first event was very successful. I'm doing well in Writing 340 (Pre-Law) and my other classes don't seem like anything that I can't handle. I can handle it. And it feels amazing. Watch out world. |

And this begins week o'hell #1, aka, julie has a ton of papers to write and has to make up from the work she missed because she had mono so she can pass french and get a decent grade in philosophy. hmmph. so tonight i went to zbt wine nite instead...no drinking though :) who wants to write my 8 page political science paper for me? or my two comm 3 page papers? anyone? anyone? |

We had our Semi-Formal invite last Friday night. Despite all the drama of figuring out alcohol, dinner, dates for other girls, it all went smoothly. I definitely had fun. Maybe a little too much fun. For some reason the only time I post is when I have an INSANE crap load of work to do. Tonight I need to write: an e-journal for comm, a 5 page rough draft for philosophy, one page french composition, and start my orientation advisor app. good stuff. seriously. with that said, once thursday night rolls around, i'm definitely going to be having a good time. gilmore girls is on in 10 minutes, and i need to finish my e-journal. wish me luck. |

my first day back at sc honestly was awful until about 8:30pm. I'm not comfortable here, in fact I'm pretty lonely. My roommate is really shy and doesnt seem to want to get to know me better. The other two haven't come yet. I was hoping to get sort of what daniel got last year, a great group of kids like stu, steve, and nick, but so far no. Today was better, minus a bit of a catastrophe with my car...long story short....my card didn't work and i scratched my car :( :( BUT i got to make dinner for everyone at MY appartment and I am so motivated (like monica in that episode where she revamps the apartment she and rachel are forced to live in "i am always the hostess") I went to hang out with jess and anna (went to high school with alan) at their apartment tonight. The two of them are a lot of fun and I cant wait to get to know them better. I am really trying to get out of my shell that I've sorta created there. I need my confidence back. I mean, not to say at home that I'm the most outgoing person, but I'm definitely more comfortable with myself and with others. And I can't sleep. Tomorrow's my grandma's funeral and I'm pretty much a wreck between that and how lonely I've been. However having the quiet apartment to myself right now has been nice because in my insomnia I've cleaned the kitchen from dinner today. Anything to get my mind of it all. I miss my grandma so much. I've also realized that my broken friendship probably can't be pieced back together and there is really no point in trying. I just need to remember the good times and also remember I will meet more people and become closer with other people who arent jenny. I just need to move on because honestly a true friend forgives and loves you unconditionally and theres no point holding on to someone who can't do either. and i really should get to bed, long day tomorrow. you guys i need all the prayers and kind thoughts/words i can get. i just need to stay calm and breathe....and chew a lot of gum.

So my summer's coming to an end so i gonna wrap it up for you guys. The summer wouldn't have been complete without the many trips to hhc, and the daily visits to starbucks. i still miss del taco. ohhh and the movies, i've never seen so many in such a short span of time. Not in any order: the notebook, the villiage, farenheit 911, de-lovely, little black book, the stepford wives, the terminal and of course there was that one attempt to go clubbing and the couple trips to the spectrum: urban, getting the perfect shoes...only to find two left ones, the cooler, red robin, the parking structure, getting lost as only lan and i could do and the trips to glendale to see mon: long hours in traffic singing along to alanis and showboat, arguing about ashanti, playing jigalo, lana trying to egg me on about having to go to the bathroom, food at mon's, long talks about llp the many trips to kohls even when i wasn't working, to see jess, or to get our schedules sitting around at mike's or jess': sharing laughs, and other things that ruin my lungs...aheem, playing cards, watching movies, sneaking kalua out of jess' house begining of summer: going to fullerton to see daniel, going to jimmy's, watching that special about ghosts the charles mansion escapade hhc, and all of the discussions we had there, the people we met, nate/josh, that guy that liked nicole chili's, cocos, fridays,in and out and HOOTERS the many attempts to get a tattoo which finally ended in me getting a hole in my naval and a hole in lan's tongue starbucks even after closing, ordering my grande/now venti iced carmel macchiato non fat with whip cream, sha..., playing cards there, sitting around laughing...avoiding the smoke, getting free coffee :) Lan, Daniel, Mike, Kristina and I all went to Knotts on Tuesday, which was soo much fun. We definitely came close to death a few times, but we all survived (but not with out a fight..or without screaming, especially daniel). definitely was good food...good times, chili cheese fries/funnel cake salad. :) and tonight is the beach party, and hopefully it will be followed by a good trip to HHC. needless to say i'm looking forward to going back to school, hanging out with alan/aron/ben, partying it up with anna, seeing my old roomie, and seeing if a broken friendship can be pieced together again. but this summmer was definitely excelllent

this weekend was fun i don't remember friday.... i do know I worked, that's all i do by the way. this week from sunday to saturday i will have worked..AT LEAST 45 hours AND that's not counting a 6 hour on call shift i have at the limited too on friday night (which i better not have to do)
i'm rackin in the dough. and sorry i don't answer my phone at work...its funny how i only get missed calls when i'm working but when i'm at home i get NO LOVE :) anyway saturday was fun, not clubbing but whatev, hhc has not lost its effect for me :) tonight, i want to do something, hang out with friends go to hhc even though angel and jess are sick of it :) tomorrow i'm getting the flute repaired and thursday i work 10-2 and 5-10:30 (But knowing the limited too, i'll have to stay till 3) friday is relay for life, so after work i'm gonna make an appearance for a few hours. todays my day off, i slept till noon, and i still need to dry and straighten my hair, and get laundry done :) k peace out kids!

I've been home for almost a month now. And in that month I've gotten two jobs, lost almost ten pounds, watched about a dozen movies, drive a few hundred miles, worked almost 40 hours a week, had a couple all nighters, had a couple early nighters, made a few steps towards independence from the parentals, thrown up, seen old friends, eaten at del taco..(the real kind..not the kind where julie gets action) and for the most part i am enjoying myself. graduation is this thursday, lan comes home saturday, i don't work saturday *as of yet..crosses fingers* i'm definitely not ready to go back to sc yet. for the most part home is good. the end |

So I've been back at home for about a week and a half. I found myself a job at Kohl's! I start sunday. Grades are in, this semester I got a 3.11. Not as good as I wanted but oh well, I did my best...or whatever. Being home has been good, I love spending time with my friends down here. But that's about it. ohhh and i finally watched a mighty wind and aparently we have best in show too so i gotta watch that soon that's it! gn |

It's Sunday and in LESS THAN 24 hours I will be home on wonderful south orange county. I'm all packed up except my computer, printer, tv, bed and a few clothes that I need to wear tonight and tomorrow. It's all so bittersweet, especially coming home from birnkrant last night and opening the door to see a half empty room. and now mine's almost the same. I packed up just about everything and lowered my bed, gave myself a headache from trying to move the bed. now i'm just waiting to go the the bbq ben and daniel are planning, and then i'm gonna study a bit for aural skills, go to church, go to bed, wake up take my final and get out of here. my freshman year of college is almost over. |
